Board of Director Candidates

Lynda Troeger - Candidate for Director

Church membership/Involvement:

I have been a member of HCL for about 14 years.  Currently I am a Lay Worship Assistant and my husband and I are also Marriage Mentors.  We have also been involved as new member mentors and previously I was also a lector. I have also participated in Trunk or Treat several times and various other activities as needed.

In my previous church (Peace Lutheran - New Berlin), I was a member of the church council, Sunday School Director and Teacher, Little Lambs of Peace Preschool director and treasurer, Vacation Bible School organizer, Lector and many other committees as needed.

Family Information:

I have been married for 39 years and have two married children and two grandchildren.   My oldest grandchild is in 8th grade at HCL and my youngest will certainly be a future Wildcat.  My daughter is a 4th grade teacher at HCL but has recently stepped away for a short time to concentrate on being a mom.  My husband is a software engineer and son is a civil engineer.  You can find all of us at the 9:15 service every Sunday.

Work Experience, Personal Qualities Leadership Traits:

I am a high school chemistry teacher at Mukwonago High School.  This is a second career for me and previously I worked as a Medical Technologist.  I was drawn into teaching after my experience as a Sunday School Teacher.  I love my work as a teacher and feel very strongly that God gives me guidance to do what I do each and every day.  Even though I teach in a public school, I have many opportunities to share my faith with my students.  I have taken on a number of leadership roles including, department chairperson, chemical hygiene officer and science club advisor.  I have served on numerous committees, many of which I chaired.  I have been recognized as Teacher of the Month several times and have been chosen to speak at Seniors Honors Night.

Speak to your commitment to the study of God's Word, either in privately or in an organized Bible Study.

I was a member of a small group Bible study for about 10 years and the impact that this had on my faith journey is astounding.  I have also done several Bible “challenges” such as an intensive study of the New Testament, and several topical Bible studies both within a small group and as an individual.

Currently I do a daily Bible study using the E-dibs resource where we are currently finishing-up a verse-by-verse study of the book of Genesis and will be moving on to another yet unnamed book of the Bible.  I have participated in this study for about 8 years now.  I also have used several of the studies from Right Now Media and my husband and I just finished a Lenten devotional study.

What is your ability to commit to weekly worship:

Weekly worship is something that has been a part of my life for nearly 40 years. It is as natural to me to attend church on a Sunday morning as it is for me to get up and brush my teeth.  I feel that my husband and I have also instilled this mindset in our children and grandchildren as well and nothing could bring me greater joy.

Do you have the ability to commit to giving generously financially to support the mission and ministry of HCLC:

Giving has always been a priority in our household and my husband and I have always sought out ways that we can use the financial security that we have been blessed with.  In addition to weekly giving, we always take time to discuss how we can contribute to other missions and ministries.

Since joining Hales Corners Lutheran, we have felt so blessed to be a part of this amazing congregation and we have reflected that blessing in our weekly and other offerings.  We taught our children the importance of giving at an early age and would give them an allowance, but always discussed how a portion of what they received was to be used for the Sunday School collection.
